Q when they are slightly chained up to their bed when you first meet them. Magic Triumphs – to be released May As in the rest of the series, I really liked the introduction of mythology and folklore as part of the plot. Great action, great fun! Andrrws usual, Kate kicks ass while being funny as hell: Skinny, flabby, filthy, with breasts dangling to her waist like two empty bags, she tossed back grimy tangled hair and hissed at me, baring llonaa of rotten teeth.

What did I fall into? For anything I asked, there would be a price. I took a deep breath. The cat leaned forward in anticipation. Kate is one of a kind and I needed a dose of IA unique writing because I was going crazy obsessing over it after I read Clienr for Me so I decided reading or re-reading some of them the novellas and short stories from Kate Daniels should tidy me over for a while.

This story was ridiculously short but it was so worth reading it. It is a rundown of Kate’s first meeting with Saiman and his ridiculousness and it was awesome. Saiman was his usual crazy self, getting into trouble and paying others to take him out and Kate the sarcastic, impulsive and surprisingly wise badass girl we’ve come to love.

Three minutes later the cat lapped milk from Saiman’s crystal punch bowl. View all 6 comments. Oh My God, this was fun! Ilona makes me so happy with her take on russian tales, I can’t even tell you. Pushkin would be proud, I think.

One I both love and hate at the same time. A valuable ally that had the potential to be a friend had he not been a massive a-hole. With an ego bigger than Earth’s stratosphere. But I’m getting ahead of the story always a risk with rereads.

I enjoyed this story a lot more the second time because I could really appreciate the potential, knowing how things will develop from here.

I laughed my head off and snickered thinking about how astonished both Kate and Saiman would be at that moment if the knew what I knew.

But there were clues to why things went the way they did, hints Clidnt missed before because I knew so little about both characters. So if you’re one of those who have read the series but never gotten around to reading this story, I’d strongly recommend you do so immediately. A short story teling us how Saiman and Kate met. I found Saiman really interesting when I first encountered him, qusstionable his strange magic and fixation on getting into Kate’s pants.

I’m with Kate on this one, sleeping with someone like Saiman is clietn really bad and qustionable idea. Poor Kate to have to deal with such a spoiled “body”! This is a delicious short on the first time Kate and Saiman meet, and of course all the shenanigans that ensues. Despite his uber creep factor throughout the series, he has remained one of my favorite characters so this was especially enjoyable.

Unfortunately, they took a good fifteen minutes of hard chanting to start and when they did spring into action, they attained a maximum speed of forty-five miles per hour while growling, snarling, and thundering loud enough to force a deaf man to file a noise complaint.

It’s just that I really love this story. I do love books that incorporate Llina folklore. I really love this short story.

It’s a fun glimpse into the world of Kate Daniels. In it, we meet Kate as she’s just come off of one job and is hired for another. The new job is to be a bodyguard for a client at Champion Heights. In a world where most skyscrapers have collapsed because of the magic, Champion Heights still stands. We’re not told, but I’m sure it’s a fascinating story on its own as magic is the implied reason.
